The story reaches its devastating climax when Dumbledore and Harry journey to a seaside cave to retrieve a Horcrux (the locket of Salazar Slytherin). To reach it, Harry is forced to make Dumbledore drink a vile potion that leaves the old wizard helpless. Returning to Hogwarts, they find the Dark Mark floating above the Astronomy Tower. Draco disarms Dumbledore, but hesitates to kill him. That is when Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) arrives—and casts the killing curse, sending Dumbledore falling to his death while a stunned Harry is forced to watch, frozen by a body‑bind spell.
