Completed in 1589 A.D. in Varanasi, the work consists of approximately 3,300 verses divided into 25 Tarangas

The Mantra Mahodadhi was composed in 1589 CE (Vikram Samvat 1645) by (also spelled Mahīdhara), a renowned anchorite who lived and performed his austerities in the sacred city of Varanasi (Kashi). He was the son of Bhanu Bhatta, belonged to the Vatsa Gotra, and was a fervent devotee of Lord Hanuman and Lord Narasimha. His profound scholarship is evident throughout the work. Recognizing its vastness, Mahidhara also authored his own concise Sanskrit commentary on the text, titled "Nauka," which means "boat." This symbolic name suggests that his commentary serves as a vessel to safely navigate the endless ocean of mantras contained within the main work.

The text is often sought in Sanskrit, but English translations are also available, often in two-volume sets that provide both the original script and the commentary. What You Will Find in the Text
