You generally need an Intel Core processor (2nd Generation "Sandy Bridge" or newer). AMD processors can run High Sierra, but they require specially modified kernels, which Niresh sometimes supports but can make system updates difficult.

It was designed to support both Intel and AMD processors out of the box.
