Set in a near-future world, a grieving young woman (Eva Green) decides to clone her deceased boyfriend (Matt Smith) and give birth to him, raising him as her son while coping with the psychological consequences.

Clones (referred to as "copies") are treated with prejudice by society, viewed by some as an "abomination" that violates human moral norms.
