Developed through a strategic partnership between Engineered Software and AutoDesSys, Inc. (the creators of form•Z), this upcoming version completely rewrites the classic CAD software from the ground up. This ensures full compatibility with contemporary macOS environments, Apple Silicon architecture, and modern collaborative design workflows.

Official statements from Engineered Software reveal that while the necessary architecture is in place for external developers, Alfred Scott, the creator of WildTools, is behind on porting his creation. In July 2023, Todd Stanley of Engineered Software stated that "Alfred has been on the beta since the beginning of beta but has chosen not to begin development on WildTools, despite all the necessary functionality being present". He suggested that WildTools contains "some very old code too that is not easily ported to the new OS". For now, the full WildTools suite is not available for PowerCADD 10, leaving a significant gap for many professional users. The official word advises that "other external writers are progressing just fine," but for the legacy WildTools user, patience will once again be required.

For architectural firms and designers who have kept a dying MacBook Pro running Mojave just to access their decades-old detail libraries, PowerCADD 10 is a lifeline. It not only secures the future of their legacy files but offers a modern, fast, and efficient 2D drafting environment that is still unmatched by many bloated, cross-platform alternatives.
